Brick walls almost complete - no simple task

Our hand made banco / adobe brick walls are almost done for 2 schools! this has been an extremely labor intensive project, but will be well worth it when each school is free from animals and their dung and the sane dunes can be kept out.

Here is a short explanation of the work involved and some photos to see how it's done by traditional Malian masons.

  • then he applies the cement. You can see that the cement is set up in the holes between the bricks. This is the best application of cement to last. This requires many bags of cement to do a good job.

  • then the first layer of cement is applied and after that a color layer.

they tell me they are sure the wall will lasts many many years!
